Lidia Kukulj is a Perth-born entrepreneur, media personality, and community advocate. Above all, she values her most important role as a devoted mother to her two daughters, Chloii and Kaleesi, whom she describes as her greatest purpose and inspiration.
Raised in Perth, Western Australia, and proud of her Croatian heritage, Lidia’s journey reflects a career shaped by determination, independence, and entrepreneurial instinct. From her teenage years, she pursued opportunities in small business, media, and entrepreneurship, laying the foundation for a diverse professional path.
From an early age, Lidia demonstrated confidence and a willingness to speak up on issues she believed in. Her interest in debate and public discussion was recognised during primary school, where she received an award for debating.
During high school, she developed a passion for drama, regularly performing in leading roles. In her final year, she was voted by her peers as both Most Likely to Succeed and Most Popular, reflecting her strong personality, leadership, and entrepreneurial spirit.
That entrepreneurial instinct was evident early. As a child, she often found creative ways to earn money, including selling flowers from her grandmother’s garden - sometimes even back to members of her own family. By the age of 23, without formal tertiary qualifications but with strong determination and work ethic, Lidia stepped into the role of bank manager before later advancing to Senior Business Development Manager. In that position, she tripled a long-standing senior sales record within two and a half months, demonstrating exceptional drive and commercial ability.
Lidia later entered the media industry, appearing as a weather presenter before transitioning into television hosting. She engaged audiences through lifestyle programming and conducted interviews with notable figures, including the President of Croatia and the coach of the Croatian National Football Team.
Throughout her career, she has founded and operated a number of small businesses across different industries, reflecting her resilience, adaptability, and business acumen. She also made a mark in the hospitality sector, where her ventures gained strong local support. Her final café and function venue in Perth earned a reputation as one of the city’s most successful venues of its kind. She is a board member of the West Australian Croatian Chamber of Commerce, in which, among many roles, she hosts and MCs their events.
Lidia has also had a long-standing involvement in the fashion and lifestyle space. Believed to be behind one of Perth’s earliest fashion-focused blogs, she developed a strong following by sharing style, lifestyle, and event coverage during the early rise of digital media. Her work in the fashion industry also included a period of modelling, appearing on billboards across Perth and in various publications. Fashion and creative expression have remained a consistent thread throughout her public presence and continue to feature prominently across her digital platforms.
Recognising the growing influence of digital media early on, Lidia built one of Perth’s prominent social media platforms, growing an audience of more than 30,000 followers. She approached the space professionally, collaborating with businesses and organisations to increase brand visibility and engagement.
Brands and organisations she has collaborated with include the City of Perth, City of Stirling, Karrinyup, Dyson, the Melbourne Fashion Festival, HBF, Mirvac, Fini, Holden, and Tourism Croatia, among others.
Lidia also founded The Croatian Project, connecting Croatians and non-Croatians with Croatian culture and heritage. She organised the first international cinema tour of the film General, starring Goran Višnjić, bringing it to audiences around the world. Following this success, Lidia continued working with film producers to promote the international reach of Croatian films.
Leveraging her public speaking skills and strong ability to connect with audiences, Lidia became a sought-after MC and event host, presenting functions across Perth and internationally.
Beyond her professional work, Lidia has been actively involved in philanthropic and community initiatives, supporting a range of charitable causes and organisations. She has been particularly passionate about raising awareness around domestic violence, coercive control, and other forms of abuse, advocating for greater support and understanding for those affected.
Deeply community-minded, Lidia remains committed to using her voice, experience, and platform to contribute positively to the community and to support causes that strengthen and protect vulnerable individuals.
